Beschreibung

ZCode is a desktop coding-agent workspace promoted by Z.ai as a harness for GLM models. It suits developers who want to give an agent a project goal, organize tasks and orchestrate multiple agents rather than use a single chat window. The product combines workspaces, conversations, skills, task state and approved tools.

Goals and workflows

Create a task in a chosen workspace, describe the outcome and review the resulting files and changes. The publisher documents Office and Coding modes, goal tracking, plugin and skill selection, planning and script-defined workflows. Parallel workflows can coordinate several agents; the 3.14.3 release allows adjusting their concurrency while they are running.

The application also advertises remote-control and Computer Control workflows. These can act beyond a code editor and should be enabled only for an intended task. Browser or computer-control capabilities in the product are not evidence that every website, remote phone or installed application can be controlled reliably. Review approval prompts and tool results before trusting a reported completion.

Installation and inspected hardware

Download the official 3.14.4 Mac DMG, copy ZCode.app into Applications, or use brew install --cask zcode. The selected Apple silicon download is 255,221,085 bytes. Read-only inspection verifies app version 3.14.4, build 3.14.4.7912, minimum macOS 12.0 and an arm64 executable. This distribution is not Universal; select the publisher's appropriate hardware download instead of assuming Intel support from the general product name.

The cask declares no additional formula dependency. Project runtimes, compilers, Git authentication and external services remain separate requirements. An agent may suggest installing tools, but the desktop app is not a bundle of every language SDK. Review those installations independently.

Accounts, permissions and network

The publisher describes a free plan and additional plan-related benefits, with login and model-provider configuration. Hosted model usage, quotas and optional plans depend on the account and current service terms. Installing the application is not a guarantee of unlimited model usage or of entitlements at a separate API provider.

Network access is needed for hosted inference, authentication, model services and remote-control functions. Selecting an external provider can send prompts and repository context to that provider. A locally opened workspace does not make every agent request local. Keep provider keys, repository tokens and remote-control credentials out of shared logs and generated files.

Agents can read or change workspace files and execute commands within the access you grant. Protected folders may require macOS file permissions, while cross-application or screen-control workflows can require the appropriate Accessibility, Automation or capture permission. Basic coding tasks do not require granting every privacy permission. Full-access approval is a significant scope choice, not a default recommendation.

License and data risks

ZCode is proprietary software governed by its publisher Terms of Service, effective June 15,2026. The terms identify JINGSHENG HENGXING TECHNOLOGY PTE.LTD as the operator and cover the desktop software as part of the service. Unless a separate agreement or the applicable paid service authorizes it, the terms restrict use of ZCode and generated content to personal, non-commercial research and study. Check the current agreement before commercial work; a free plan is not an unrestricted commercial or open-source license. Optional plugins, dependencies and generated assets have their own rights and conditions.

Keep version control or backups before large changes. Generated commands can delete files, alter infrastructure or expose credentials. Review diffs, tests and proposed dependency changes yourself. Remote access and computer control can expose other windows or account sessions beyond the chosen repository. Sanitize support reports and revoke credentials if they are accidentally shared.

The latest publisher Chinese changelog documents 3.14.4's captcha change, while the reviewed English page starts at 3.14.3. The English editorial notes use the exact Chinese entry's meaning and do not borrow community-fork changes.

Befehl zum Deinstallieren
brew uninstall --cask zcode

brew uninstall --zap --cask zcode
