Beschreibung
Keka is a macOS file archiver by aONe for people who compress, extract, encrypt or split files for storage and sharing. It combines a graphical interface with drag-and-drop workflows and a command-line mode.
Features
- Create archives in formats including 7Z, ZIP, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, XZ, LZIP, DMG, ISO, BROTLI, ZSTD, LRZIP, AAR and WIM.
- Extract many formats, including RAR, ZIPX, CAB and MSI. RAR creation is not listed as a supported feature.
- Protect 7Z archives with AES-256 encryption. ZIP uses the older ZIP 2.0 encryption described by the vendor; do not assume equivalent protection.
- Split large archives into smaller parts for transferring files.
- Drop files or folders onto the Dock icon or app window to begin a task, and manage multiple archive operations.
Install and use
Install with brew install --cask keka, or download the official disk image and copy Keka to Applications. Open the app, choose a format and options, then drop the files to compress. Open or drop an archive to extract it. Keep all parts of a split archive together before extraction. Homebrew also provides a keka wrapper that launches the application's --cli mode; this is part of the cask installation rather than a separate compression dependency.
The optional Keka External Helper is used when configuring Keka as the default archive handler. It is not a prerequisite for ordinary compression and extraction. Review the vendor's instructions before changing file associations.
Systems, dependencies and conflicts
The official current download page specifies Mac OS X 10.10 or later. The current Homebrew record includes Intel and Apple Silicon platforms; it does not list an extra formula dependency. The cask explicitly conflicts with keka@beta, so choose the stable or beta installation rather than installing both through Homebrew. Bundled archiving engines are maintained with the application; a separate system 7-Zip or unrar installation is not listed as required.
Keka's desktop application is for macOS. The developer also offers a separate Keka for iOS app with its own distribution and requirements. No official Windows or Linux desktop edition was established from the cited sources. The macOS minimum should not be applied to the iOS edition. Minimum RAM and fixed installed storage requirements were not specified in these sources.
The version 1.6.8 official DMG is 34,392,393 bytes, verified against the GitHub release asset. This is the download size, not the installed footprint. The official screenshot is a website illustration of password-protected archive tasks, not evidence of a version-specific interface.
Account, cost and licensing
The macOS website download is free. A paid Mac App Store distribution and optional donations support development; optional in-app tips do not unlock additional features. No mandatory Keka account or subscription is stated for local archive operations. Store purchases are subject to Apple's account and store requirements.
The vendor reserves copyright and provides its own terms of use; no blanket open-source license for the current application was established. The public GitHub repository primarily hosts issues, the wiki, discussions, releases and translations, rather than the complete application's source. Individual bundled archive engines have their own licenses.
