Beschreibung

Junicode is a serif typeface designed for medievalists and specialists across academic disciplines. This Homebrew package installs a selection of Junicode 2 font files, not a desktop application.

The installed files include Roman and italic styles, along with weight and width variants such as Light, Medium, Semibold, Condensed, SemiCondensed, SemiExpanded, and Expanded. The package also includes the variable font files JunicodeVF-Roman.ttf and JunicodeVF-Italic.ttf. Junicode 2 follows the Medieval Unicode Font Initiative recommendation version 4.0, with later additions and revisions. Its OpenType features are organized to support accessible, searchable text; the family also includes expanded small caps and mark-positioning anchors.

Install with brew install --cask font-junicode. After installation, select Junicode or the relevant installed style in a compatible application’s font menu. This installs font files; it does not install an app. The variable-font files provide adjustable width, weight, and the custom Enlarge axis when the application supports those controls.

Documents created with Junicode 1 may reflow when opened or set in Junicode 2. Some Junicode 1 OpenType features beyond basic kerning and standard ligatures may not display as expected after conversion. Font support and available controls depend on the application.
