Elgato Stream Deck

Elgato Stream Deck is the desktop companion for configuring Stream Deck controls and integrations. It suits streamers, creators and other users who want repeatable actions, labeled controls and application-specific profiles instead of memorizing every shortcut.

Controls and integrations

Assign actions to keys and supported dials, customize their appearance and organize controls into folders, pages and profiles. Combine supported actions into multi-step sequences. Plug-ins connect to creative software, media players and other services; the available controls depend on the installed plug-in, its permissions and the attached controller.

Version 7.6 adds configurable Infobar actions for Stream Deck Neo. The rebuilt Spotify plug-in uses Spotify's official Web API and its new actions require a Spotify Premium sign-in. The ChatGPT and Codex plug-in adds controls for the supported ChatGPT desktop workflow. These are integration-specific features, not evidence that every service is included free or that any Stream Deck device has an Infobar.

Install, platforms and hardware

Download the official macOS PKG or use brew install --cask elgato-stream-deck. The publisher's current software requirements specify macOS 13 Ventura or later. Elgato documents Apple Silicon compatibility, but the checked installer has not been independently inspected for exact binary architectures; a Universal package claim is not made.

For physical-control workflows, use a supported Stream Deck or compatible controller. Mobile and virtual-control products have their own requirements and entitlements; installing this desktop package does not purchase hardware or a separate service. OBS, Spotify, ChatGPT and other connected applications are external prerequisites for their respective integrations. The cask declares no separate formula dependency or named conflict.

The installer can add launch components and the application can run at login. Grant Accessibility, local-network or application-control access only when a chosen integration requires it. Version 7.5.1 specifically removes an unexpected macOS local-network trampoline_handler prompt introduced in 7.5.0; that historical bug should not be presented as a general mandatory permission. There is no blanket Full Disk Access requirement asserted here.

Costs, accounts and network

The desktop companion is a free proprietary download. Hardware, Marketplace content, mobile or virtual entitlements and connected services can have separate charges. Plug-ins and icon packs have their own publishers and licenses. An account may be needed for Marketplace or a particular service; a Spotify Premium requirement, for example, applies to the new Spotify Web API actions rather than every local key assignment.

Local configuration and supported local actions can operate on the Mac. Downloads, updates, Marketplace, cloud integrations and some network controllers use the network. Do not describe the entire plug-in ecosystem as always offline or guarantee that configured content never reaches third-party services.

Practical cautions

Actions can trigger application commands, send text, launch programs or affect a live broadcast. Test sequences in a safe environment before using them during a stream or presentation. Review plug-in provenance and permissions, avoid exposing credentials through typed-text actions and keep backups of profiles before imports or updates. A profile may refer to unavailable plug-in versions, devices or services, so sharing a profile does not guarantee identical behavior on another Mac.

The official 7.6.0.23012 macOS package reports 361,866,834 bytes through HTTP HEAD. Installed size differs from compressed download size.
