Beschreibung

Blip sends files and folders between your devices or other Blip users without first creating a public cloud-download link. It suits users moving creative projects, large media folders or personal files across Mac, Windows, iPhone/iPad and Android devices.

Transfers

Send original-quality files and folder structures without manually zipping them. Transfers can resume after network interruptions, disconnected drives or a full destination disk. Same-network devices can use LAN direct connections; other transfers can connect across the internet or use Blip's relay network when direct connectivity is unavailable. Both sender and recipient participate in the real-time transfer rather than the recipient waiting for a finished public upload.

The advertised absence of a transfer-size cap does not create unlimited destination storage or bandwidth. Speed depends on sender upload, recipient download, LAN links, disk throughput and connection conditions. Keep the source available and verify the received files before deleting it. Reconnection is not a guarantee of immediate delivery to an offline recipient.

Installation and Mac compatibility

Download the official Mac ZIP, unzip it and move Blip.app to Applications, or use brew install --cask blip. The exact 1.2.3 build 20260927200815 archive is 28,711,486 bytes, confirmed by HEAD, actual archive size and the official Sparkle feed's enclosure length. Read-only inspection confirms main-app version 1.2.3/build 20260927200815 and an Intel x86_64/Apple Silicon arm64 binary.

The current official download page requires macOS 12.1 or newer. The app Info.plist and update feed declare 12.0; use the publisher's stricter 12.1 requirement when choosing a supported installation. The checked sources do not state minimum RAM. Files being sent/received, partial transfers and application data need additional disk space. No external development toolchain or runtime is identified as an ordinary packaged-app requirement.

Account, fees and permissions

Blip requires an account and verified email. Search by a recipient's name/email or invite them; control search visibility and block unknown senders. Review the destination identity before sending confidential work. Official pricing distinguishes free non-commercial activities such as hobbies, education and charity from paid business/job/commercial projects. It is proprietary software governed by Blip's terms; free download does not mean every commercial use is free.

Allow file access to selected source folders, external drives and receive locations. macOS may ask for local-network or notification permission according to the feature used; the checked sources do not establish Accessibility, Screen Recording or blanket Full Disk Access as prerequisites. Both endpoints require suitable connectivity, and account verification or service coordination can need internet access even when the file path is local.

Security and privacy

The publisher describes end-to-end encrypted tunnels with mutual TLS 1.3, connecting devices directly when possible and using encrypted relays otherwise. It says Blip does not retain file contents on a cloud server or publish files behind open web links. This protects transport; it does not protect an already received copy from the recipient or replace trusted endpoints and careful recipient selection.

The privacy policy collects account details such as email, name and profile picture, plus device/app interaction information. It states file contents are not automatically collected without permission. Third-party anti-abuse services can collect device/browser information. Consequently, encrypted transfer is not an account-metadata or analytics-free claim. Review the policy, manage visibility and account settings, and share only files you are authorized to send.

Version-documentation limits

The latest three distinct catalog bases are 1.2.3, 1.2.2 and 1.2.0. The official update feed proves 1.2.3's exact build, timestamp and artifact size but contains no description of its changes and omits the other two current catalog versions. No exact official change notes for these three were established during this review; generic improvements are not substituted for missing release evidence.
