Beschreibung
Android CLI standardizes Android development tasks for terminal users, scripts and coding agents. It provides access to official tools, skills and Android guidance without requiring every workflow to start from the Android Studio interface.
Development tasks
Use the CLI to set up an Android SDK, scaffold projects, manage virtual devices, install APKs and inspect device screens or UI hierarchies. Supported integrations with a running Android Studio instance provide semantic analysis, Compose preview rendering and dependency lookups. Journeys can test application workflows. Android skills and the specialized knowledge base help agents apply recommended Android patterns.
Setup and requirements
Download the executable matching your platform and processor, make it available on your command path and consult its command help. This catalog currently supplies the Darwin ARM64 executable. Additional SDK packages, emulator images, Android Studio integrations and attached devices have their own installation and compatibility requirements; the small CLI executable is not a complete SDK. Run android init to install the Android CLI skill when using it with an agent. A .androidrc file can set recurring options, including the SDK path.
Choose an explicit SDK with --sdk when needed, and use android info to check the active setup. Device commands require the appropriate connected device, emulator or remote reservation. Google-service access uses android auth login when authentication is required. Remote physical-device availability depends on accessible Google Cloud projects and reservation configuration.
Data and operation
Google documents collection of command invocations, option names, selected predefined option values and anonymized error details. It says responses, custom project names and local file paths are not collected as ordinary command inputs. Use --no-metrics to disable the documented data collection. Authentication and remote-device workflows still communicate with the selected services. Service accounts, cloud resources and model agents can have separate terms or charges.
Commands can install packages, start devices and modify projects, so review an agent's requested actions and verify target paths. Keep project files under source control and retain backups before automated changes. Android CLI is a command-line tool. The supplied Android Studio SDK Manager image illustrates a historical companion SDK installation workflow, rather than a dedicated Android CLI graphical interface or current binary capture.

Installation interface example
The official Android documentation supplies a historical Mac Android Studio SDK Manager image showing the SDK Tools tab. The same guide identifies Android SDK Command-Line Tools among packages managed through this tab and links to sdkmanager. This is a companion SDK installation example, not a terminal capture of the current standalone command-line-tools build. Versions displayed in this historical image are not attributed to the current package.
