Zotero Beta
Global community · A beta macOS research tool for collecting, organizing, annotating, citing, and sharing sources.
About
Zotero Beta is the beta-channel macOS edition of Zotero, a research tool for managing sources. The Homebrew cask installs the Zotero desktop app, rather than a separate command-line utility. As a beta release, it is distinct from the regular Zotero cask.
With Zotero, you can:
- Collect research sources as you browse the web; Zotero can recognize research materials on supported pages.
- Organize items into collections, add keyword tags, and use saved searches to gather relevant materials.
- Create references and bibliographies, with citation-style support described on the official Zotero site.
- Optionally sync research data across devices and access it in a web browser; share libraries for collaboration.
Install the beta cask with brew install --cask zotero@beta. The cask requires macOS and conflicts with the regular zotero cask, so the two cannot be installed together through these casks. Zotero’s website describes the product across several platforms, but this specific cask installs the macOS app. This is a beta-channel build, not the regular release.
