Zed Preview is the preview-edition release of Zed, a code editor designed for speed and collaboration. This Homebrew cask provides the Preview app on macOS and Linux-specific application artifacts, along with the zed-preview command-line executable. It is a distinct variant from the regular Zed release.
- Work in a code editor designed for collaboration with people and AI agents. Zed’s official site describes capabilities for chatting with teammates, coding together, and sharing screens and projects.
- Use Language Server Protocol support, an outline view for navigating file symbols, and project-wide diagnostics.
- Edit with features including Vim bindings, multibuffer editing, and text and line manipulation.
- Launch the editor from a terminal with
zed-preview. The cask generates shell completions for Bash, Zsh, Fish, and PowerShell.
On macOS, install the Preview variant with Homebrew:
brew install --cask zed@preview
This command is for the macOS cask installation workflow. The cask definition also specifies Linux-specific application artifacts; the macOS cask command above is not a Linux installation instruction.
