How to install Yggdrasil on Mac

  1. In Terminal, run: brew install --cask yggdrasil
  2. Homebrew runs the yggdrasil-0.5.14-macos-arm64.pkg installer, which asks for an administrator password.

Install without Homebrew

Download the file Homebrew uses for your chip: Apple siliconIntel

Uninstall Yggdrasil and optional data cleanup

Uninstall command
brew uninstall --cask yggdrasil

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

Deep clean (optional)

Homebrew has disabled Yggdrasil (it fails macOS Gatekeeper checks), so it can no longer be installed with Homebrew. It was disabled on Sep 1.

How do I completely uninstall Yggdrasil on a Mac?

Run brew uninstall --cask yggdrasil. It stops 1 background service and forgets 1 installer receipt. To delete its settings and caches as well, run brew uninstall --zap --cask yggdrasil. --zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out --zap. That also deletes 2 files and folders, including /etc/yggdrasil.conf.

Does Yggdrasil run on Apple silicon (M1 and later) Macs?

Yes. Homebrew downloads separate builds for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
