About

TurboVNC Viewer lets you view and interact with a desktop environment running on another computer through Virtual Network Computing. Applications run on the remote machine, while their pixels are sent to the local viewer. The official project describes TurboVNC as a high-speed VNC implementation derived from TightVNC, using a variant of Tight encoding tuned for image-intensive applications such as video software and image editors.

Combined with VirtualGL, TurboVNC is designed to remotely display 3D applications with interactive performance. The Viewer includes built-in SSH client support and desktop scaling controls. The 3.3.1 release adds configurable three-button mouse emulation and fixes a hang after a TigerVNC Server disconnects an encrypted connection, as well as overly permissive hotkey modifier matching.

This Homebrew cask is the macOS Viewer package, not the Linux TurboVNC Server. Install with brew install --cask turbovnc-viewer and consult the official User's Guide and man pages for connection and security configuration. Server-side Linux service changes and Windows-specific keyboard fixes in the upstream changelog should not be interpreted as Mac Viewer features. TurboVNC is an independent open-source project distributed under the GNU General Public Licence, with third-party component conditions documented in the source.
