    CompatibilitymacOS 14 or later

Waits until an image saved into a watched folder is complete before hanging it.

Tendedero 1.8.1 was released on 2026-11-01. This update waits until an image saved into a watched folder is complete before hanging it.

    • Some apps save to Downloads under the final name and fill the file in over a few seconds. Tendedero used to hang that image straight away, cut off or blank. It now waits until the image is complete. Screenshots hang as quickly as before.
    • Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. One download covers Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

    • Pin what matters. Right click a photo and choose Pin: it moves to the left end of the line, past a knot, on a space grey clip. New screenshots never push it off, Take everything down leaves it, and it stays put while a long line scrolls. Unpin sends it back among the rest (thanks @YuezeEcho).
    • Hang any image from Finder. Right click an image and choose Hang on Tendedero: it hangs pinned, and the file stays where it is (thanks @baiyuff001-maker).
    • Hold a photo in front of you. Right click a photo and choose Hold: it floats over your apps while you work, framed like a card, and a faded trace waits on its clip. Drag it, stretch it from its edges or zoom with a pinch or the scroll wheel, and hold several at once. The button in its corner, Escape or a click on its trace hang it back (thanks @niceczj, @2150852, @fylucion, @sanhenlei and @kaciry0927, and @Anubhav-Rai, whose pin window it grew from).
    • Space and Delete over a photo. With the pointer on a photo, Space takes a quick look, as in Finder, and Delete does what its corner button does. Every other app keeps both keys (thanks @hanhaoxuan114514-glitch, @ellenandyoung and @nihaocgl).
    • ⌘Z on a second display keeps the line there, instead of moving it to the screen the photo was first taken on.

Want to help? There is now a guide for contributors.

Requirements: macOS 14 Sonoma or later. One download for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Install: open the disk image and drag Tendedero to Applications, or run brew upgrade --cask tendedero (brew install --cask alejandrobujan/tap/tendedero for a new install). Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

    • ⌘Z puts back what you took down. With the pointer on the line, ⌘Z hangs the last photo you let go back in its place, out of the Trash if it went there. Press it again for the one before. "Put back" in the menu bar does the same, and Take everything down comes back in one step (thanks @Anzene057).
    • Discarding a few in a row is easier. A photo you let go leaves its empty place until the pointer moves away, so the next cross stays right under it (thanks @profesorj13, and @SimonBurmer for asking).
    • Only the middle of the menu bar brings the line down, so reaching for a menu on the left or an icon on the right no longer drops it on you. Once it is down, the whole bar is yours (thanks @aveyron1799-tech, @greatoe and @SimonBurmer).
    • Markup opens in the middle of the screen, above the line, instead of stuck in the bottom-left corner (thanks @AIMX210 and @EnzoAnna1984).
    • Markup edits no longer double the file size. An annotated screenshot stays about as big as it was, in its own format (thanks @prashant54singh).
    • A photo you copied stays pasteable after it goes to the Trash, in Finder, chats and upload boxes too (thanks @Anzene057).
    • One sound per screenshot. macOS already plays its shutter, so Tendedero no longer chimes on top of it. Copied images and watched folders still chime (thanks @AIMX210).
    • Reduce motion is respected: with it on, photos land and leave without flying or falling (thanks @baiyuff001-maker).
    • Turning off Hang copied images takes effect at once, even for an image that was still being read (thanks @Lynnette177).

    • The line shows up on every desktop again. After a long time running, the line could get stuck on one desktop and stop coming down on the others, even with Show line, while screenshots kept arriving. Tendedero now notices and puts it back on the desktop you are on (thanks @NewPlayer0213, @javy-fernandez and @xxtymeHA for the reports).

    • Two new languages: Galician, and Hindi thanks to @Anubhav-Rai. Tendedero now speaks eleven: English, Spanish, Galician, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Turkish, Azerbaijani and Hindi. It follows the language of your Mac.
    • The shirt in the menu bar dims while the line is empty, so resting in the menu bar and seeing nothing come down no longer looks broken. Its tooltip says how many photos are hanging (thanks @Anubhav-Rai).
    • The shortcut and Show line work over full screen apps. Resting in the menu bar and new screenshots still leave full screen apps alone unless "Over full screen apps" is on.
    • An empty line stays up. Once the line has been opened and put away, resting in the menu bar no longer brings it back with nothing on it (thanks @zengchuntao).
    • Double clicking a photo opens it without copying it, so whatever was on your clipboard stays there (thanks @gzeric for the report).
    • The Copied label keeps to one line on narrow, portrait screenshots (thanks @efec89).

    • Four new languages: French, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Korean, in the menus and the README. Tendedero now speaks nine: English, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Turkish and Azerbaijani. It follows the language of your Mac.
    • Check for Updates opens tendedero.app in those languages too.

Requirements: macOS 14 Sonoma or later. One download for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

    • Check for Updates, in the menu bar, now opens tendedero.app with the version you have. The page tells you whether a newer one is out, what has changed since yours, and how to install it, in the language of your menus when it has it. Tendedero itself still never connects to anything: only your browser does, and only when you ask.
    • Tendedero has a website. tendedero.app is a small Mac desktop with Tendedero running in it: take a screenshot, watch it fly to the line, copy it, mark it up, drag it to a chat, a folder or the Trash. In English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese.

    • Keep on line, in the menu bar: keep as many photos as fit across the screen, as before, or 25, 50 or 100. Past what fits, swipe with two fingers or use the scroll wheel to bring older ones in from the left. The line always comes down showing the newest.
    • Take down everything to the left or right of a photo, from its menu. Each one goes the way of its own corner button: to the Trash from Tendedero's folder, and only off the line from anywhere else.
    • Check for Updates, in the menu bar, opens the latest release. Tendedero still never connects to anything.
    • The line no longer tucks away while a photo's menu is open.

Thanks to @Anubhav-Rai and @nijataliyev7 for the pull requests behind this one.

    • Hang copied images, in the menu bar: screenshots taken with Control held, or images copied in Preview or a browser, hang on the line too. Off by default; the menu bar shirt fills in while it's on. Copies that also carry text or a file, and anything a password manager marks as private, are left alone.
    • Quick Look: force click a photo, or choose Quick Look from its menu. The arrow keys go through the line, and Space closes it.
    • Bring the line down, in the menu bar: choose whether resting the pointer in the menu bar or something new hanging brings the line down, and whether it also comes down over full screen apps.
    • Size: small, medium or large photos.
    • Shortcut: change ⌃⌥T to any shortcut, or turn it off.
    • Also watch folders: up to three folders, like the one another screenshot app saves to. New images there hang on the line, and taking one down leaves the file where it is.
    • The corner of a photo shows an eye when it only hides it, and a cross when it sends it to the Trash.
    • Lighter on memory when you take many screenshots in a row.

Thanks to everyone who sent pull requests and ideas, especially @Anubhav-Rai, @tosiabunio, @orkunisitmak, @xkchok and @GHGuide.

Requirements: macOS 14 Sonoma or later. One download for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

    • Screen recordings hang on the line too, with Handle screenshots on: a play button over their first frame, click to copy the file, press and hold to trim it.
    • Handle screenshots now also works when Save to is set to Clipboard or Preview.
    • A new screenshot brings the line down even when it's full, and the photo that falls off is seen falling.
    • Photos that fall off a full line, or are taken down all at once, no longer leave files behind in Tendedero's folder.
    • A full line moved to a narrower screen keeps all its photos instead of losing several to the next capture.
    • The menu bar icon appears at once on first launch, even while macOS asks for access to the Desktop.
    • While tucked away, the line no longer leaves an invisible window over the top of the screen.
    • Bringing the line down from the top edge works more reliably.
    • Now in Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Turkish and Azerbaijani.
