Synology Drive Client
Synology Inc. · Synchronize and back up Mac files to a Synology NAS, with on-demand access and local file recovery in a private-cloud workflow.
About
Synology Drive Client connects a computer to Synology Drive on a Synology NAS. This Homebrew cask installs the macOS desktop client, not the NAS server package, browser portal or mobile app. It is designed to synchronize computer files and back up selected folders to storage you control.
Synchronization and backup
Changes to synchronized folders can propagate across connected devices. On-demand sync downloads files when needed to reduce local disk and bandwidth use; pin files to retain a local copy. The official product documentation lists on-demand sync for macOS 12.3 or later. Real-time or scheduled backup protects important computer folders against accidental deletion; file and folder version recovery depends on the server's versioning configuration.
Private-cloud setup
Install Synology Drive on a supported NAS through DSM Package Center and install Drive Client on the Mac. Storage capacity and concurrent-user limits depend on the NAS model and configuration, not an unlimited hosted-storage allowance. The official product page describes Drive as license-free; NAS hardware and its storage are separate requirements. Configure synchronization and backup according to your server permissions and retention needs.
Scope and related components
Synology Office collaboration, browser sharing tools, Drive Admin Console and NAS-to-NAS ShareSync belong to the wider Synology ecosystem; they should not be represented as separate functions installed by this Mac DMG. The client is proprietary software from Synology Inc.; no public source-code repository is established by the official product documentation.
