Slack is a Communication app for Mac. It needs macOS 13 or later.

About

Slack is the beta desktop variant of Slack for team communication and collaboration. This Homebrew cask installs Slack.app rather than the regular slack cask.

  • The cask is labeled for team communication and collaboration.
  • It installs the macOS application in /Applications.
  • The beta download is available for both Apple Silicon and Intel Mac architectures.
  • It conflicts with the regular slack cask, so the two casks cannot be installed together.

Install it with brew install --cask slack@beta. macOS 13 or later is required. After installation, open Slack from your Applications folder and sign in to use it with your team.

This is a beta build, distinct from the regular Slack cask. The official beta page describes a sign-up process for Slack’s iOS beta, so it does not provide further details about this Mac app’s beta features.

Install without Homebrew

Download the file Homebrew uses for your chip: Apple siliconIntel

SHA-256 only checks that the download is complete; it is not a security certification. See the SHA-256 and download address

Uninstall command
$ brew uninstall --cask \slack@beta

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

Deep clean (optional)
$ brew uninstall --zap --cask \slack@beta

--zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left.See which files are removed
