About

RewriteBar is a macOS writing assistant for working with selected text. A keyboard shortcut opens the app with the current selection, where you can choose an action using the mouse or keyboard.

  • Correct grammar and spelling, or rewrite text to improve clarity and tone.
  • Translate text in the current app; the product site describes support for more than 500 languages.
  • Create and customize actions, then combine several actions into a sequence for repeatable workflows.
  • Compare rewritten text with the original, including line-by-line or word-by-word changes.
  • Use local AI models through listed providers such as Ollama, LM Studio, oMLX, Apple Intelligence, Osaurus, and Real. PopClip integration is also described on the product site.

Install with brew install --cask rewritebar, then open RewriteBar from Applications. The cask requires macOS Ventura (13) or later. The product site offers a free trial and describes a license purchase for upgrading; it does not establish that every capability is available in the trial.
