About

Recut is a macOS app for speeding up the rough-cut stage of video editing. It analyzes audio and video to locate silence and automatically produces a cut list, so you can review and refine the result in an editing workflow rather than cutting every pause by hand.

  • Analyze audio and video to find silent sections and generate a cut list.
  • Work across multiple tracks, including footage from multiple cameras and microphones.
  • Export an XML cut list for a non-destructive editing workflow in a compatible editor.
  • The official site also lists exports to Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, ScreenFlow and CapCut, plus standard MP4, WAV and M4A files.

Install the macOS app with brew install --cask recut, then open Recut from Applications. The cask installs Recut.app. This Homebrew entry is for the macOS app; the listed installation does not install the Windows version.
