About

Notion is a proprietary workspace for notes, documents, wikis and structured databases. This cask installs the Mac desktop client for individuals and teams organizing knowledge and projects; Notion Calendar and Notion Mail are separate products.

Features

  • Create pages with flexible content blocks and collaborate on documents and wikis.
  • Organize projects and tasks using database properties, views and relationships.
  • Search and navigate workspaces using desktop tabs and page previews.
  • Receive notifications for mentions, assignments and reminders.
  • Use supported Notion AI capabilities according to the workspace plan and permissions.
  • Download selected pages for supported offline work in desktop/mobile; online connectivity is still needed for sync and online features.

Installation and requirements

Install with brew install --cask notion, or obtain the Mac download from Notion’s official download page and follow its installation instructions. Choose an Apple Silicon, Intel or Universal build matching the Mac, open Notion and sign in to an account. Workplace access can depend on workspace membership and administrator policies. The client updates automatically; Check for Updates is in the Notion menu. Installing in a managed location can require administrator or IT approval.

Notion’s desktop requirement is macOS12 or later. Intel and Apple Silicon downloads are supported. The recorded cask specifies macOS12+, no extra formula dependencies and no explicit cask conflicts. Minimum RAM and installed storage were not specified in the cited system guide. Download archive size is not installed size. Some features have stricter requirements: AI Meeting Notes on Mac requires macOS13+, desktop4.7.0+ and an eligible plan, plus appropriate microphone/system-audio permission.

Official Windows support is Windows10 version21H2+ or Windows Server2016. The web client supports current browsers, with the vendor’s specified release windows. Mobile requirements are iOS17+ and Android8+, with additional exclusions for older Apple devices. There is no official Linux desktop client; use the supported web option. These requirements do not make every desktop feature available on mobile or offline.

Account, pricing and license

Notion requires an account and uses workspace-level plans. A Free plan is available; paid Plus, Business and Enterprise plans add capabilities and limits. Notion AI access, automated services and optional offerings depend on the plan and may have separate limits or credit charges. Prices vary with billing term and region; consult the current pricing page. The app and hosted service are proprietary, governed by Notion’s terms/privacy policies. No public source repository for this official desktop app was confirmed.
