MeetingRecorder
Alex Mishin · A menu-bar Mac app that records microphone and system audio locally, with optional cloud transcription and summaries.
About
MeetingRecorder is a native menu-bar app for recording meeting audio on a Mac. It captures microphone input and system audio together, or as separate tracks, and saves recordings locally. The app does not join calls as a bot.
- Start recording from the menu bar; a notification can also offer to start when a call begins.
- Capture audio from apps that play sound on the Mac, including meeting calls and webinars.
- Optionally request a cloud-generated transcript with speaker labels and a summary with action items. Transcription sends audio to a cloud service; it is not performed on the Mac.
- Recordings, transcripts and summaries are saved to a folder on the Mac. Recording works offline, and no account is required.
Install with brew install --cask meetingrecorder. The cask installs MeetingRecorder.app in /Applications. It requires macOS 15 or later and an Apple Silicon Mac. To get started, open the app and start a recording from the menu bar. Transcription and summaries require an internet connection and are optional; audio is sent off the Mac only when transcription is requested.
