macFUSE
Benjamin Fleischer and contributors · Adds FUSE file-system support to macOS and provides APIs and libraries for using or developing FUSE file systems.
macFUSE is Drivers & Hardware software for Mac.
About
macFUSE adds support for FUSE file systems on macOS. It provides the integration layer that forwards file-system operations to a FUSE process running in user space. The macFUSE package does not include third-party FUSE file systems; those must be installed separately.
- Supports the
libfuse2andlibfuse3APIs, which can make existing FUSE file systems usable on macOS. - Includes
macFUSE.framework, an object-oriented API for developing macOS file systems with languages such as Swift and Objective-C. - Provides optional macOS-specific extensions through
libfuse. - The developer describes an
FSKitbackend for supported file systems on macOS 26; this is distinct from the kernel-extension requirement for this Homebrew cask variant.
Install with brew install --cask macfuse@dev. This variant requires a kernel extension. If installation fails, enable it under System Settings → Privacy & Security and retry. The cask conflicts with macfuse, so both variants cannot be installed together. The package requires macOS; the product site lists macOS 12 or later and Apple Silicon or Intel for macFUSE 5.4.0.

$ brew uninstall --cask \ macfuse@devA regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.
$ brew uninstall --zap --cask \ macfuse@dev--zap also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left.See which files are removed
