Local Beta is the beta edition of Local, a desktop tool for developing WordPress sites on your computer. It is intended to help you work on a site locally before launching it. The cask requires macOS 12 or later.
Capabilities described for Local include:
- Setting up WordPress automatically, with SSL included in the setup.
- Providing root SSH access and WP-CLI, as well as the ability to switch PHP environments for testing.
- Creating persistent Live Links so clients or coworkers can view a local site without deploying it.
- Offering a one-click WordPress admin login and pre-launch tools such as Link Checker, Image Optimizer, and Instant Reload.
Install the beta with brew install --cask local@beta. The cask installs Local Beta.app in /Applications. This is a beta release, distinct from the standard Local app. The homepage also describes other Local services and features; availability of those offerings for this beta edition is not established here.
