TakaoEx

TakaoEx is a Japanese font package from the Takao Fonts project, a community-developed derivative of IPA Fonts. The project aims to enable community maintenance and improvements to the fonts.

This cask installs two font files: TakaoExGothic.ttf and TakaoExMincho.ttf. They provide the Gothic and Mincho styles in the TakaoEx variant; this package does not install other Takao font variants or an application.

Install with brew install --cask font-takaoex. After installation, choose the installed TakaoEx font by name in an application that supports user-installed fonts, such as a document editor or design application. Installing the font does not change an application's font selection automatically.

Takao Fonts are derivatives of IPA Fonts, which are described by the project as high-quality Japanese outline fonts. The project explains that the Takao name distinguishes its community-maintained derivatives. The files included here identify the two installed styles; they do not establish full Unicode coverage or other font capabilities.
