About
SketchyBar App Font supplies community-contributed application symbols as a TrueType font, together with mappings from application names to icon ligatures. It is intended for custom SketchyBar configurations, not a standalone macOS application or a general-purpose text typeface.
Integration
The official project supports ligatures such as :safari: and embeds its application mapping in the font's meta table under the private APPM tag. Integrations can read this JSON mapping from the font itself and resolve application names to Private Use Area codepoints. Codepoints can shift when icons are added; derive them at runtime rather than hardcoding them.
Installation and helpers
The Homebrew cask installs sketchybar-app-font. in the user's Fonts directory. SketchyBar configuration and mapping helpers are separate setup work. The upstream build workflow uses pnpm and can optionally install shell or Lua helpers. Legacy icon_map., icon_map. and icon_map. snapshots remain available, but the README recommends deriving mappings from the installed font to avoid stale helper data. Installing the font alone does not automatically configure the status bar.
Contributions and recorded release
Contributors can add SVG icons and application mappings through pull requests. Icon requests are accepted, but the maintainer does not promise to implement every request. Homebrew records version 3.0.5, whose official release lists Aside and Search additions and an LM Studio Bionic change.
Visual assets
This font package has no standalone application interface. The official repository contains no raster application icon or genuine screenshot asset; unrelated application logos are not substituted for this package's own icon.
