LXGW Neo ZhiSong is a font you can install on a Mac.

About

LXGW Neo ZhiSong is a Chinese serif typeface derived from IPAex Mincho and IPAmj Mincho. It adapts Japanese-derived glyph forms toward mainland Chinese standards and uses a G-style design approach.

  • The project describes a repertoire of about 22,000 characters, including CJK Unified Ideographs in the Basic block and selected characters from Extensions A–I. This cask installs the regular LXGW Neo ZhiSong font file, not the separate Plus variant.
  • It includes redesigned Greek and Cyrillic letters, Latin support for Vietnamese, and symbols such as I Ching trigrams and hexagrams, mahjong and Chinese chess symbols, and Suzhou numerals.
  • Unicode Variation Sequences can be used to select punctuation width and positioning.
  • The project describes the font as a single-weight design; it does not provide multiple weights in this variant.

Install with brew install --cask font-lxgw-neozhisong. Then select LXGW Neo ZhiSong from the font menu in an application that supports installed fonts; this package installs a font, not an application. The project is in stable maintenance, with ongoing work focused on serious defects, necessary Unicode additions, and name or metadata changes. Its stated license is IPA Font License 1.0; review its terms, particularly for embedding or redistributing font files.
