About

Kreative Square is a scalable, fullwidth monospace font intended for pseudographics, semigraphics and private-use characters. It is a font, not an application; after installation, choose it from the font selector in a compatible application.

The package installs two specific font files:

  • KreativeSquare.ttf is the main variant and the recommended choice when possible.
  • KreativeSquareSM.ttf is the SM variant. It omits characters whose widths differ from basic ASCII, including combining characters, double-width characters and fixed-width spaces. The official site describes it as an option for programs that identify monospacing by advance widths rather than PANOSE values.

The font is designed for consistent coverage of selected Unicode and Private Use Area blocks, including box drawing, block elements, geometric shapes, game tiles, legacy-computing symbols and modular font elements. The site notes that characters beyond its intended ranges may have incomplete coverage or less polished glyphs; the stated block coverage does not establish complete Unicode support.

To install the font files with Homebrew, run brew install --cask font-kreative-square. Then select Kreative Square or Kreative Square SM in a compatible application’s font menu. For coding or terminal use, choose an application that supports monospaced fonts; use the SM variant only if its narrower character-width behavior suits the program.
