About

Foundation Icons is a web icon font from ZURB intended for use in websites and web projects. Its glyphs cover categories such as general interface actions, pages, arrows, people, devices, text editing, media controls, commerce, accessibility, social brands, and miscellaneous symbols. The installed font artifact is foundation-icons.ttf.

The icon set is designed with geometric shapes, rounded corners, and relatively thick strokes. In a web project, the icons can be sized and styled with CSS, including changes to their size, color, and appearance. ZURB’s usage guidance pairs icon elements with the corresponding fi-[icon] class and describes combining the font with the foundation-icons.css stylesheet.

To install the font file with Homebrew, run brew install --cask font-foundation-icons. Then select the installed Foundation Icons font in an application that can use installed fonts. This cask installs a font, not an application; using the icon font on a website also requires suitable markup and styling in the project.

  • One TrueType font file is installed: foundation-icons.ttf.
  • The official page presents the set as a collection of 283 icons and provides usage examples and CSS styling guidance.
  • The cask artifact does not include the stylesheet or the other web-font formats described on the official page.
