Ezra SIL
SIL International (NRSI team) · A Hebrew typeface family for Biblical Hebrew, with two fonts offering different styles of cantillation marks.
About
Ezra SIL is a typeface based on the square letterforms of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS). The Homebrew cask installs two font files: SILEOT.ttf and SILEOTSR.ttf. Ezra SIL follows the printed BHS style, while Ezra SIL SR uses a different style of cantillation marks.
- Includes the basic Unicode character set for Biblical Hebrew and Latin-1 characters.
- Provides two treatments of Hebrew marks, including differences in mark placement and shape.
- Works in applications that use OpenType fonts.
- Its Hebrew character order follows a specific encoding convention and is not canonical order; text converted to NFC or NFD canonical order will not display correctly with these fonts.
Install with brew install --cask font-ezra-sil, then select the installed Ezra SIL or Ezra SIL SR font in an application that supports OpenType fonts. This installs fonts, not a separate application. The font is not intended for text consisting only of Latin characters, and no transliteration font is included. The official site identifies 2.51 as the final release.
