Folding@home is Education & Science software for Mac.

About

Folding@home is a distributed computing project that uses participating computers to run biomedical research simulations. This macOS package is the Folding@home client, described as providing graphical interface control. The official project explains that the client downloads part of a simulation, processes it in the background, and returns the result.

  • Contribute spare computer processing time to research simulations.
  • The project describes research involving diseases including cancer, COVID-19, Alzheimer’s disease, and Ebola.
  • The official site says an account is not required to begin.
  • This Homebrew cask installs the macOS universal package and conflicts with folding-at-home@beta.

Install with brew install --cask folding-at-home, then follow Folding@home’s official setup guidance. The official site also provides platform-specific download and installation guidance.
