FilmCraft
ArtCraft team · An open-source video editor with multi-track timelines, precise trimming, color grading, keyframes and audio tools, built in Rust.
About
FilmCraft is ArtCraft’s open-source non-linear video editor, built from scratch in Rust for macOS, Windows and Linux. The project describes a Premiere-style workflow, but it is an independent implementation, not Adobe software.
Editing and finishing
Source and Program monitors, media bins and a multi-track timeline support three-point editing and ripple, roll, slip, slide and razor operations. An integer timebase keeps common video and audio rates exact. Dockable workspaces cover assembly, editing, color, effects and audio.
The official project documents color curves, color wheels, LUTs and video scopes; effects and keyframes; a GPU compositor; and loudness metering and audio mixing. Codecs are implemented in Rust rather than bundled FFmpeg. Atomic saves, auto-save and a recovery journal help protect editing work.
Availability and maturity
The project is young and actively developed. Verify format support and workflow compatibility with your own media before relying on it for production work. This listing installs FilmCraft.app from the official universal macOS 0.4.0 DMG, for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Headless command-line downloads and browser builds are separate upstream artifacts.
