About

Cisdem Data Recovery is a macOS application for finding lost or deleted files on storage devices. Its workflow is to select a location, scan it, then find and preview files before attempting recovery.

  • The official product page describes recovery from hard drives, SSDs, Fusion Drives, SD cards, USB drives, cameras, and iCloud.
  • It lists support for file systems including APFS, HFS+, HFS X, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS, and file categories such as documents, photos, videos, audio, email, and archives.
  • Search and filter tools, file previews, and saving a scan record to resume later are described as built-in tools.
  • The page also describes repair for certain damaged photos, videos, and documents, as well as recovery from an unbootable Mac in Recovery Mode.

Install with brew install --cask cisdem-data-recovery, then open Cisdem Data Recovery from Applications and choose a location to scan. The official page says the trial can scan devices recognized by the Mac and preview found files; recovering files requires registration with a license code. A drive that is not recognized by Disk Utility cannot be handled by the app, according to the product FAQ.
