Beyond Compare

Beyond Compare is a desktop application for examining differences in files and folders. This Homebrew entry installs the beyond-compare@4 variant, rather than the unversioned cask.

• Compare files and folders, with dedicated comparison views for text, images, tables, and other data types.
• Merge changes from two versions of a file or folder into one output, reviewing differences and conflicts as you work.
• Synchronize data between locations; the product’s official site describes support for local data, FTP sites, cloud storage, and ZIP files.
• Launch the application from the command line using the installed bcomp binary.

Install with brew install --cask beyond-compare@4. The cask requires macOS and requires Rosetta. It installs Beyond Compare.app in /Applications and provides bcomp in the Homebrew prefix’s bin directory. This is the version 4 cask; the current product homepage also describes a later product version, so its newer-version references should not be taken as features of this cask.
