About
Better Shot is a macOS app for capturing screenshots and recording your screen, then refining the results in its built-in editors. The supplied Homebrew cask installs the BetterShot.app application.
- Capture screenshots and add arrows, text, shapes, and numbered markers; adjust backgrounds, padding, corners, and shadows.
- Record your screen, optionally including a camera or microphone, and edit recordings with trimming, splitting, and timeline-based zooms.
- Export edited screenshots and videos locally. Video export supports MP4 or MOV; cloud sharing is optional and requires connecting your own Cloudflare R2 bucket.
- Use the app’s menu bar entry to access captures and settings. The official site also documents URL-based automation and customizable shortcuts.
Install with brew install --cask bettershot. The cask requires macOS 14 or later. After installation, open Better Shot from Applications and follow its first-run setup to begin capturing.
