About

ActivityWatch is an automatic time-tracking app for monitoring how you use your device. It records the active application and window title, and presents activity in a browser-based interface. This Homebrew beta cask installs the macOS app.

  • Review activity in categories to get an overview of time spent across apps and other tracked usage.
  • Track the active browser tab with the Chrome and Firefox extensions, or coding activity with editor watchers.
  • Activity data is stored locally on your device; the project describes its approach as local-first.
  • The app runs on macOS; this cask requires macOS 12 or later.

Install with brew install --cask activitywatch@beta. Once the app is running, open localhost:5600 in a browser to access its interface. The cask conflicts with activitywatch and activitywatch@experimental, so those variants cannot be installed alongside it.
