## About

OpenCodex is a local proxy that translates OpenAI Codex's Responses API into whatever wire format your model provider speaks. Streaming, tool calls, reasoning tokens and images are converted in both directions, so Codex CLI, the Codex app, the Codex SDK, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Grok Build can use Claude, Gemini, Grok, GLM, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, Ollama or any other OpenAI-compatible endpoint without patching the client.

What you get:

- Five adapters (Anthropic Messages, Google Gemini, Azure, OpenAI Responses passthrough, OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions) and more than 40 built-in providers.
- A ChatGPT account pool for Codex auth: add accounts, read each quota window and let the proxy choose which account serves a request.
- A dashboard with providers, OAuth status, model selection and a live request log that counts cache tokens.
- Web search and image understanding for non-OpenAI models through a sidecar that runs over your ChatGPT login.
- `ocx stop` puts Codex back into its original configuration. If the preferred port is taken, `ocx start` stops and names the process holding it instead of opening a second proxy.

Who it is for: developers who already run Codex or Claude Code and want to point them at a different model, compare providers, or split traffic across several accounts.

Licence and accounts: OpenCodex is an independent community project under the MIT licence and is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic or any other provider. You connect your own provider accounts or API keys. Some providers restrict accounts that route traffic through third-party proxies, so check their terms first.

Requirements: the Homebrew cask needs macOS 13 or later and ships builds for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

## Uninstall

- `brew uninstall --cask opencodex`

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

### Uninstalling also removes

### Deep clean (optional)

- `brew uninstall --zap --cask opencodex`

`--zap` also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out `--zap`.
