## Caveats

If you turned on lid closed mode, remove its permission before uninstalling: open Double Shot \> Settings \> Lid Closed \> Remove Permission.

## About

Double Shot is a macOS menu bar utility for long-running work and AI agent sessions. Choose a duration, keep the Mac awake until you turn it off, or let activity detection follow supported agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI. It releases the sleep hold after the agents become quiet.

Lid closed mode can keep work running without an external display, including on battery. It requires a one-time administrator password to configure sleep permissions. Heat and battery checks stop the hold when needed; on battery, the mode also enables Low Power Mode. With an external display, the lid-specific rules step aside.

The menu bar panel shows the remaining time, offers quick durations and supports URL commands for automation. Double Shot is published under the MIT license. It runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 14 or later.

## Uninstall

- `brew uninstall --cask double-shot`

A regular uninstall removes the app and keeps its settings and caches.

### Deep clean (optional)

- `brew uninstall --zap --cask double-shot`

`--zap` also deletes the settings, caches and other files listed in the Homebrew definition. They can include data shared with other apps and cannot be restored, and it does not guarantee that nothing is left. Back up any data you need first. To keep settings and caches, leave out `--zap`.

## Latest release notes

### 1.0.7 (2026-10-30)

Adds support for your own agents: name a script or LangChain agent, and the Mac stays awake until it exits.

**Custom agents**

- Settings > AI Agents > Your own agents lets you name an agent of your own, such as `my_agent.py`.
- The Mac stays awake while that agent runs, including with the lid closed, and sleeps normally once it exits.
- Double Shot finds the agent whether you start it with `python my_agent.py`, `uv run`, `node`, `python -m`, or a binary with that name. Pasting the whole command also works.
- The panel shows the agent by name while it runs.
